Design
Philosophy
Directly
stated, it is my belief that my work is sculpture presented in the form
of an interior with aspirations to be art. Rather than a signature look,
I emphasize a signature approach: one that embraces the journey to give
vision expression with clarity and purpose. Each project is conceived
as a "couture design," beginning with an idea to be explored,
which achieves realization through its evolution. It is most important
(to me) that my designs challenge imaginations, not capture them. My work
celebrates serene and cerebral design with a splash of ooh la la.
Professional
Background
After pursuing
academic interests, and studying with the noted sculptor Richard Stankiewicz,
Mark Kleinberg received his MFA in sculpture. Subsequent to graduating,
he became an accomplished set designer, which gave him the understanding
of how people react in their surroundings. With a demand to expand his
sights to interior design, he quickly amassed challenging projects. With
this career switch, he designed an impressive number of residential lofts,
fashion photography studios, offices for advertising production companies
and homes around the New York metropolitan area. For the past ten years,
Mark Kleinberg Designs has designed many large-scale residences in both
New Jersey and Long Island, several with his involvement prior to the
structure's construction.
